| | | | | | Giving Tuesday In the 1970's about 90% of Americans perceived themselves to be Christian. By the time Gen Z fully assimilates into the marketplace this will drop below 40%. (some data suggest the low 30's). As interest in traditional Church has shrunk, curiosity on variant religions has increased. As a result, the leadership structure of tomorrow is influenced by a wide range of beliefs and values. New Vertical is seeking to build a two-way bridge across this gap. The goal is to foster multiple work-faith collaboratives (groups) within coworking spaces. These groups provide a zero barrier touchpoint for those unfamiliar with the gospel. Additionally, it provides access for the local Church to a "hard to reach" segment of society. On this Giving Tuesday please prayerfully consider joining our marketplace mission as a sustaining monthly supporter. You can join the team here. | | Work as Worship We usually save the term worship for Sunday gatherings. While Sunday is rich with worshipful activities, the broader scope of WORSHIP is much more diverse. It's not hard to observe this truth. Christians often use language like "worship God with all your Heart Soul and Mind" or "Time Talent and Treasure". But we have failed to consider how our daily grind can be of equal spiritual value as lifting hands during a Sunday song. Well to quote John Piper, "Missions exist because worship doesn't". When we fail to view our vocation as an act of worship, we reveal a mission field. When this happens, God is robbed of his praise, and our neighbor suffers from this abdication. We must think of missions as broadly as Time, Talent and Treasure. There has never been a moment that can't be made beautiful by the gospel. This includes the daily grind. When we pray, "Thy Kingdom Come" it includes (not excludes) sales calls, expense reports, HR, and all the things wrongfully dismissed from praise. Worship is all encompassing. It is the who, what, when, where, why, and how of everything. One key to solving this puzzle is recognizing the inseparable link between vertical and horizontal relationships. To have fellowship with the Father, is to be part of his bride. You can't have one without the other. The bride is a horizontal relationship expressing a vertical truth. And this is lived in the Monday through Sunday daily grind. Don't reduce it to vocation. Work is bigger than that. But don't exclude vocation from it either. Work is a gift to you. An opportunity to express praise both to the Father and in a community. It is how the story of God's coming Kingdom is being lived through you. | | Pray And Rejoice As we approach the end of 2025, we are grateful for the work God has done through New Vertical. We have witnessed the launch of multiple Work-Faith collaboratives. Our next step is to support these groups toward self-sufficiency. By faith we will see many more workplace groups launch in the near future. The long-term success of these groups needs the local Church. New Vertical can foster these events, but perpetual momentum needs financial and human resources. Additionally, the New Vertical Board expresses its gratitude to all those who have partnered with us. Your investments of time, talent and treasure are having a lasting impact. Please pray for the Birmingham and Roswell collaboratives to reach sustainability. This will include a local chaplain to provide spiritual and organizational leadership. Additionally, please pray for the following: - our monthly funding is at 35% of our need. We are very grateful for the one-time support that has equipped us to launch multiple groups. However, long-term sustainability requires a shift from onetime to a monthly giving base.
- Those within New Vertical who are consider Jesus. That they might know him as a kind, and gracious Lord and Savior.
We are grateful to the PRCC (The multi-denominational chaplaincy arm of the PCA), our AMAZING Board of Directors, and the many friends who support us. We cannot do it without you. | | Grateful We know support comes in many forms. We cannot pioneer marketplace ministry without you. Thank you for your support. You are loved and we are grateful. His Grace is enough. | | | | | | | |
