Three Weeks, Argentina and Costco
WOW! The past three weeks have been a blur. On February 13th we took occupancy of our new home. We are excited! In preparation of this long awaited event we contacted all the local utility providers. Unfortunately we operated under the assumption that Georgia Power provided power for Georgia. This was mistake #1. It seems that our little section of Fulton County is under Cobb EMC (a regional monopoly on electrical power). This means on the night of Saturday Feb 13th our children walked through the rain into a very cold and dark house. Because the next day was Sunday, followed by Presidents Day on Monday, power could not be established until Tuesday (YUCK!).
However, For a moment I thought I saw a silver lining. Since we had no power it seemed like a great time to gather our scattered belongings from Montgomery and Birmingham. Providentially some good friends were driving from Blue Ridge to Montgomery. I hitched a ride and scheduled a Uhaul truck to be picked up late Monday Feb 15th. This was Mistake #2. The Uhual website sent me to Terry's Used Autos (a licensed franchise). Instead of arriving at the regional UHUAL center, I was standing in the middle of a thunderstorm knocking on the outside door of Terry's "so called business". Terry wasn't there.
Well... you get the point. The week was HARD. On the bright side, there were some unexpected saints who helped us achieve the impossible. Here are some photos from the trip

Thanks to John Luke, Robert Susan and Skip. Its Crazy - Everybody who loaded the truck in Montgomery (except John Luke) was in ATL that morning. (I was hoping to connect with more folks, but between Terry's used autos and the Tornado warning we just couldn't get the word out) Afterwards, I drove straight to BHAM for more stuff and back to ATL Tuesday morning.

Thanks to these men (Rich and Chris) I was able to empty the POD and free the driveway for the UHual truck arrival on Tuesday. (Photo taken Sunday before the blitz)
The next weekend I began my duties as head coach for Mason's soccer team. All the teams are named after countries and we are Argentina! This is a city league and I consider it a huge blessing and opportunity to serve. Last Saturday we had our fist game (5-5 against Brazil). Serving in this capacity is important because Roswell has the #2 Parks and Rec system in the nation. This is truly where the people are.
During one trip to Costco, God connected us to some new friends exploring the Christian faith. Tomorrow will be our third meeting with this sweet couple. I am so honored to share Christ with them. They ask questions about things I often take for granted. What is the differences between the Old and New Testament? What is Genesis? Etc..
There are many more stories that have been written in our short time. We look forward to sharing these with you as we transition from relocation to a "season of gathering".
