A Vision Growing

Really Humbled

Each time I construct an update I review our early days. From the support gatheirngs in Montgomery, the prayer meeting at Altadena, to those first gatherings in our Roswell home. There is no question that God has planted this Church. I am truly humbled.

None of the typical Church planting models fit this endeavor. Yet, Christ Fellowship is planted and growing. Perhaps even more amazing is that we are on track towards financial independence. As we enter our 3rd year I want to express extreme gratitude to all those who gave / give. This Church would not exist without your support.

WINTERSONG

I am super excited to tell you about an event we are hosting this Thursday. From day one we sought to engage the community in 2 ways.
  1. Those we don't see - typically those suffering from poverty and homelessness
  2. Those we do see - typically areas where we Live Work and Play.
Both of these exist on an individual level. But from a larger corporate level engaging in these areas required volunteer teams and resources. To my surprise engaging in #1 was much easier to recruit and accomplish. Presently we support one apartment for homeless women & Children and engage in a weekly food pantry (along with some other individual needs). But #2 proved to be much harder.

Finally we have a team leading us with #2. By faith this endeavor will establish an authentic gospel centered relationship with the local arts / business community. Our first event is called WINTERSONG (idea borrowed). We have gathered local artist and musicians to develop creative works centered around the theme of REST.

Fears and Joys

On one hand I am truly amazed! Christ Fellowship began from zero and now has just over 100 members (kids and all). On the other hand (and this is a blessing) many of these folks are new to Church membership, which also means new to tithing. While we did raise support to prepare for this, I still feel the tension.

Year End Gifts

Again. Many of our supporters have reached the end of their three year commitment. We are extremely grateful. Historically your gifts have gone to MNA. While this is still a viable funding path for us, a more direct path would be the Church's account. http://gatheredbygrace.com/give/  You might even like our financial reports better :). Please consider a year end gift as we grow towards financial independence.

Pray (Praise)

Please pray/praise for:
  • Pray/Praise - We need to find a new space. This is not an emergency. But our needs are beginning to expand beyond our current space. We would love something that fits our vision and needs.
  • For the Oaks - specifically for Chapel, Mason and Cannon. That they would know God's kindness and gentleness.
