Gathering

Ring the Dinner Bell

Last week I sent a quick update on the next phase of our planting efforts. The brief post was a last minute effort to solicit your prayers. Well, it worked! We had a blast. Our living room and kitchen were full of life and new relationships.

We mentioned the transition to the bible study in our July post. But in case you missed it, I will give you a quick recap. From the beginning of this adventure we knew our home would serve as a starting point for community. However, summer was upon us and that presented a very different set of challenges. On the one hand, during summer people are pulled in many different directions creating instability. However, we also believed summer could be the perfect opportunity to explore new ideas. As a result several families gathered at Fellowship Bible Church on Sunday mornings to work on Church vision and Core Values. The process was wonderful! We made changes to our mission statement and developed 6 core essentials. It sounds very academic, but when you look closely it is really exciting! You can read more here.

The summer came to an end and so did the season at Fellowship. The next phase of gathering began last Sunday in our home. In an effort to balance the needs for corporate worship (this is still down the road a bit) and the beginning of a school week, we decided to schedule a fall bible study from 4:30 to 6:30. This provides ample time for fellowship, teaching, a meal and its still early enough to get the kids down for school.

The good/bad side is space. While it is exciting to see a full house, it is also a very full house. Here is our living room packed with chairs.

We can probably stay in our home for a short while. But soon we will need to land in a larger space. The logistics involved in this next step are numerous. Please pray for us as we navigate these waters. Another huge need we have is for someone who can lead us in music. If possible, we want the Bible study to reflect a worship service whenever possible.

Finally, we have begun the "Church Naming" conversation. Several options have risen to the surface and we are now using this as a opportunity to engage our community. Until the name is chosen we will still use our temporary website www.liveworkplant.com. "Live Work Plant" is not the name of the Church, but it solves a much needed means of communication. Plus, the site name reflects a great deal about how we believe God is working through us in the Renewal of All Things!

We will be mirroring the mailing list for this blog onto L.W.P. soon. Once this is done you will receive frequent updates from www.liveworkplant.com (plus monthly updates from planttheoaks.com). However, if you miss an update, all of our conversations have been archived on the "News and Postings" page on http://www.liveworkplant.com

Thank You Donors! We are so grateful for your support! Some of you have experienced difficulty in renewing your support. MNA has been migrating over to a new reporting system. This has presented some temporary challenges. Thank you for your patience!
